Woodenzone is based in Sunbury on Thames and run by ex-patriot 'Kiwis' Nigel Peterken, a graphic designer, and his accountant cousin Leigh Peterken, both long-established UK residents. Most of the Woodenzone driftwood range derives from timber originally washed down from New Zealand's Southern Alps and which eventually found its way ashore on the remotest beaches of the South Island.
This is where Nigel and Leigh personally select the most interesting specimens for shipment back to the UK. Of these, selected items are painstakingly cleaned and burnished in order to bring out their individual characteristics in terms of shape, colour, graining and texture. As well as driftwood sculpture,
Woodenzone offers an exclusive selection of unique items of furniture, shaped from rare 30,000 year-old kauri timber relics which were discovered in a perfect state of preservation in New Zealand's swamplands.
